A guide to e-invoicing and JoFotara for restaurants in Jordan
E-invoicing looks complex from afar, but at the restaurant level it is a one-time setup and then automatic submission of every invoice. Here is a practical summary.
What e-invoicing is
Instead of a paper invoice or a manually emailed PDF, the system sends each invoice's data immediately to the tax authority's platform in a standard format, receiving an official identifier and a QR code printed on the receipt.
What JoFotara is
JoFotara is Jordan's national e-invoicing platform, under the Income and Sales Tax Department. Systems submit invoice data to it.
What your restaurant needs in practice
Correct tax-registration details, and a POS that supports the integration. A one-time setup: you enter the account identifiers into the system, then every invoice is submitted automatically with its status shown (accepted / processing / rejected).
Why it should be on every plan
Since e-invoicing is a tax obligation, it should not be tied to the most expensive plan only. In RAWA JoFotara is on Basic and Integrated, and the invoice is submitted from the same POS screen.
A note
The applicable scope and mandate dates are set by the tax department's guidance and change over time. Confirm your restaurant's situation from an official source; this guide is introductory, not legal or tax advice.

Do I need a developer for the integration?
No if the POS supports JoFotara out of the box — you enter the identifiers and the rest runs automatically.
What if an invoice is rejected?
A good system shows the rejection reason and lets you resubmit after fixing it; the invoice and its number stay in the record.
